Service

As Oostwoud stands for quality, we also prioritize service. Since 1994, Oostwoud has established its own service department that can support you with: Technical inquiries, preventive and corrective maintenance, installation of lockers and assembly work. But also in the delivery of parts for all product groups and reorders of keys and locks. Our philosophy goes beyond just delivering products. In our view, the supplier-customer relationship already begins with our first contact. To fully enjoy the delivered product without interruption, it’s essential that you can rely on the knowledge and experience of our service department, even many years after delivery.

History

Oostwoud International is an organization with a rich history. Since 1871, the name Oostwoud has been synonymous with the development and production of high-quality products. Started as a carriage and wagon maker, the company has evolved over the years into a leading manufacturer of medical furniture, wardrobe systems, parcel lockers and mailbox systems. An organization with a professional structure, a market-oriented vision, a state-of-the-art production process and a customer-oriented character. Oostwoud is familiar with and has associated its name with the realization of quality.

Three generations of Oostwoud form our foundation.

Three generations of Oostwoud have laid the foundation for today’s Oostwoud International BV throughout the centuries. In 1868, Franke Oostwoud starts a carriage business, consisting of a wagon workshop, a painting workshop, an upholstery shop, a saddlery, and – importantly – the blacksmith’s shop, which forms the common thread in the entire strong history of Oostwoud. After twelve years in Giekerk, the move to Franeker took place in 1880, where we are still located today.

The second generation is building for the future.

In 1899, with the succession by son Marten Franke Oostwoud, the company not only changes its name but also gains a new market. For a colleague paralyzed by polio, employees build a wheelchair. There appears to be more demand for this and the Oostwoud steam-powered factory begins producing wheelchairs and stretchers on a larger scale, all quality iron-based products. The acquired reputation brings General C. de Mooy to Oostwoud with his design for an ambulance stretcher, after which we continue to produce the stretchers for decades.

Oostwoud expands in the 20th century

In the eighty years that follow, Oostwoud expands with a sales office. First in Utrecht and later in Veenendaal, until moving back to base in 1994: Franeker. Production is also expanding. More hospital furniture is being conceived, developed and delivered. This creates an assortment that is unique in the Netherlands. It provides healthcare and business with all the essentials in medical and business furniture, and we continue to do so to this day.

Quality is our compass: past, present and future

With quality as our compass, we are always developing. When the Oostwoud family transferred the company’s shares in 1986, that mentality was not lost. The trend in the development of new steel products that started from the 1970s means that, in addition to medical furniture, more steel products are gradually being added. All manufactured in the factory in Franeker, all bespoke solutions, always innovative. This is who we are and how we remain ahead of our time. That is Oostwoud quality.
